Do you hike? If so, you owe thanks to trail crews who work hard to keep trails in shape.
Maybe you’d like to give a little time on the trail yourself. Here’s your chance.
North 350 Blades, a volunteer group that maintains the northern section of the Pacific Crest trail, has a recruiting event at 6 p.m. Monday at the Everett Public Library main branch.
A representative of North 350 Blades will be there, as well as two representatives from the Pacific Crest Trail Association.
The group is looking for people who are interested in joining the volunteer crew to take care of the PCT. At the event, you can learn about the various opportunities to help. They need help digging in the dirt and clearing brush, of course, but they also need volunteer drivers, camp cooks/hosts and more.
The group has a number of events this year, including several days in June in the Stevens Pass area of the trail. This will be the third year North 350 Blades has worked at Stevens Pass, and they hope to expand their efforts there. More work in the area is planned in September.
Plenty of other work on the trail is also planned, in many areas, from day trips to weeklong efforts.
Learn more at the Monday event, or check them out on their Facebook page.
