Democratic State Rep. Lillian Ortiz-Self plans to kick off her campaign for her first full term in the legislature at an event at Scott’s Bar and Grill in Edmonds on Thursday.
Ortiz-Self will meet supporters from 6 to 8 p.m. at Scott’s at 8115 Lake Ballinger Way across the street from the Aurora Village shopping center.
Ortiz-Self won appointment to the State House of Representatives in January to replace Marko Liias, who was appointed to the State Senate.
Ortiz-Self has no announced opponent now that Republican Jeffrey Thorp has withdrawn his candidacy.
Candidates file for office May 12-16.
The 21st District includes most of Edmonds, unincorporated areas north of Edmonds and Lynnwood and northeast of Lynnwood, all of Mukilteo and part of south Everett.
