The doors open for a new music venue in downtown Everett on Saturday night.
The Cannery, 2820 Oakes Ave., Suite C, located on Oakes Avenue between California and Hewitt, is the new home of the Everett Music Initiative.
For now, the Everett Music Initiative only plans to book shows at The Cannery two or three nights a month.
The venue will be one of the four used for the Fisherman’s Village Music Festival on May 16 and 17, a 70-act festival organized by the Everett Music Initiative.
The Cannery will also be available to rent for other events.
Five local bands will play at Saturday’s grand opening, including Fauna Shade, a trio of young rockers who recently placed second in the Experience Music Project’s 21-and-under battle of the bands competition. They will be joined by I Will Keep Your Ghost, who were highlighted as the artist of the month by 107.7 The End, as well as Preacher’s Wife, Each &All and Born of Ghosts.
There will be bar stocked with beer, wine and spirits. Volunteers from the community will bartend and work the door. Tickets are $10 the night of or $7 in advance at bit.ly/1ifTtGK.
The club is open to those 21 and older. Doors open at 7 p.m.
