Workers do pay health costs

The April 3 article on Everett’s budget stated that “While appointed and elected city employees pay 10 percent of their health care costs, unionized city employees pay nothing. Getting them to pay the same 10 percent would save an estimated $900,000 annually to help cope with rising health care costs.” This is incorrect. The appointive employees pay 10 percent of their premium and unionized employees do not pay a premium. We employees, both appointive and union, do indeed pay a good portion for heath care. We all have deductibles, co-pays and pay a percentage of the actual costs.
