Jackson basketball star Jason Todd, Stanwood guard Josh Thayer and Lynnwood’s Jasmin Edwards have been invited to take part in Saturday’s 20th annual Northwest Shootout, an event that features some of the top high school seniors from Washington and Oregon. The game is at Liberty High School in Hillsboro, Ore.
The event is put on by the Multnomah Athletic Foundation, a non-profit organization that emphasizes athletic participation for youth. The girls game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m., with the boys game following at 6 p.m.
Other notable players include Bothell’s Josh Martin and Mount Rainier’s Brittany McPhee.
Todd was recently named the Gatorade Washington Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Edwards helped lead Lynnwood to a third-place finish at the state basketball tournament, the Royals’ best finish in school history.
The duo were named The Herald’s Player of the Year for boys and girls hoops, respectively.
Thayer scored over 1,000 points in his Stanwood career, helping the Spartans to a sixth-place finish at the state tournament, their best finish since 2002.
Snohomish girls head coach Ken Roberts will act as an assistant coach on the Washington girls team.
Past high school players that have participated in the Northwest Shootout include Nate Robinson, E.J. Singler, Mike Dunleavy, Rodney Stuckey and Adam Morrison.
