4 North Cascades campgrounds need hosts for summer

If you like camping and the North Cascades, here’s an opportunity for you. Campgrounds in the North Cascades Park complex are looking for hosts for the summer. Hosts help campers with registration and provide interpretive information about the area, among other responsibilities.

Colonial Creek Campground

This campground is the largest of the four developed camps in the Ross Lake National Recreation Area. It has about 150 sites. It’s on the shores of Diablo Lake and Thunder Creek. It’s the busiest area of the park complex with boaters, canoeists, kayakers, fishers, hikers, backpackers and mountaineers starting their adventures there. Get more info here.

Newhalem Creek Campground

Newhalem Creek Campground has 120 sites where Newhalem Creek and the Skagit River meet near the North Cascades Visitor Center. This is one of the busier camps in the area, though it does have some secluded areas with dense forest. Get more info here.

Hozomeen Campground

Hozomeen is just south of the Canadian border on Ross Lake. It has 75 sites. It’s physically isolated from the rest of the park. Access is challenging, either via a 35-mile unpaved road or a boat ride. It features spectacular mountain views. Get more info here.

Goodell Creek Campground

Goodell Creek Campground is the smallest of the four sites with 25 sites along Goodell Creek north of the Skagit River. The campground is a bit less hectic due to its size and setup. The raft and kayak launch for the Skagit River are here. It’s also a common starting route for mountaineering in the Southern Pickets. Get more info here.
