Decision on building moratorium near landslide areas postponed
The discussion is now scheduled for the council’s regular Monday-morning meeting at 10:30 May 5. The meeting will be held on the eighth floor of the county’s Robert Drewel Building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
Council Chairman Dave Somers introduced the proposed temporary ban Wednesday, but council members decided they needed a few more days to study the idea.
On Friday, the council announced the topic would be pushed back another week, to make sure all five council members would be on hand.
The emergency measure would apply to residential construction within a half-mile of landslide areas identified in the county’s 2010 natural hazards plan. It would apply to slopes of more than 50 feet tall. It would not affect projects that have submitted complete building applications to the county.
