Seattle-area gardener and author Janit Calvo advises starting small and staying small.
Calvo, the author of “Gardening in Miniature: Create Your Own Tiny Living World,” will demonstrate her miniature garden techniques and sign her book from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at J. Matheson Gifts, Kitchen and Gourmet in Everett.
Calvo describes her art as a cross between gardening and crafting. The book includes tips for creating your own miniature living scenes, the types of plants that work best and accessories to complete your creation.
“Gardening in Miniature” lists at $19.95 but will be offered at a 20 percent discount at the event.
