SEATTLE — The 6-year-old boy taken at knifepoint from an Auburn, Washington, home was found safe and his mother was arrested Monday following a high speed chase that ended in the Stevens Pass area.
An Amber alert had been issued Monday morning for Mason Joseph Bennatts-Miller, who is described as autistic.
Authorities say his mother, 34-year-old mother Sandra Bennatts, who does not have custody, forced her way into his grandmother’s home at knifepoint Sunday night, tied her up and took the boy.
King County sheriff’s Sgt. DB Gates says deputies tracked the mother through cell phone pings on U.S. 2. When her car sped off at nearly 100 mph, they backed off. She stopped in the Stevens Pass area and was arrested without incident. The boy was in the car.
