Reader comments regarding Boeing pertain to all large companies these days. The age when manufacturing companies are run by engineers familiar with the business have long passed. Such companies are now run by MBAs whose only interest is fiscal. Loyalty to employees, the community or even the country is far from their minds. Their equation of operation is profit equals sales minus (cost of money, labor and materials). They will do whatever is necessary to maximize profit and if moving the labor force to a lower paying state does this then tough luck on the families concerned.
These modern tycoons are sensitive only to running costs and profit. This is the current situation and all employees should be aware of it. They must do whatever is best for themselves and their families and give no weight to “loyalty” since it’s a one-way track. They will be laid of at he drop of a hat if it suits the company without the slightest concern for their situation.
