MILL CREEK — More construction is planned on 164th St. SW through the summer.
Sidewalk ramp upgrades along the street between I-5 and the Bothell-Everett Highway are expected to be finished by the middle of this month. But night grinding and paving along the corridor is set to begin in June. The work is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the week.
Eastbound lanes are expected to be completed first. Work on the westbound lanes is to follow.
During construction of the ramps, drivers can expect minor lane shifts and lane narrowing. Pedestrians and bicyclists might see closed sections of sidewalk and are advised to follow marked detours.
During the road work, travel lanes are expected to close at night. Drivers should plan extra travel time for delays.
Business access is set to remain open at all times.
The work is dependent on weather, which might affect the schedule.
During the summer, 80 sidewalk ramps at 13 intersections are scheduled to be upgraded. The new ramps are expected to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards and improve mobility for pedestrians.
Granite Construction, working for the county and the city, plans to repave 164th Street SW. The asphalt is cracked and rutted and can no longer support heavy traffic.
