Well, we can’t say John Schneider didn’t warn us.
When discussing his team’s decision to trade its first-round pick Thursday, the Seahawks’ general manager said they’d consider doing so again, and sure enough, the Seahawks did just that, moving back five spots in the second round.
“There’s several guys that we hope will be there tomorrow, but if somebody comes tomorrow with something we can’t turn down, we’ll look at that as well,” Schneider said after the conclusion of the first round.
After a run of players to start the second round who might have been fits for the Seahawks—offensive linemen Xavier Su’a-Filo and Joel Bitonio, defensive linemen Demarcus Lawrence and Ra’Shede Hageman and receiver Marquise Lee—the Seahawks decided to slide back again. Seattle made a trade with Detroit, which sent Pick No. 40 to the Lions, as well as a fifth-rounder (146) and in return Seattle got Pick No. 145, a fourth-rounder (111) and a seventh-rounder (227).
Also of note early in the second round, Washington TE Austin Seferian Jenkins with 38th overall to Tampa Bay, making him the first Husky off the board.
