Britt started 13 games at left tackle as a senior, but the Seahawks see him as a possible replacement for Breno Giacomini on the right side. Offensive line coach Tom Cable said Britt will compete with Michael Bowie for that spot, though he also noted that Britt has the versatility to play guard, which is also an unsettled position for the Seahawks with Paul McQuistan leaving in free agency, and James Carpenter coming of a year in which he was unable to hold down a starting job.
Britt says he’s happy to play wherever asked, noting, “I have experience at all five positions … I just want to get on the field and win games.”
Cable praised Britt’s toughness, calling him ornery—really, that’s a compliment for linemen—and also noted how impressive he was going up against Jadeveon Clowney, the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft. Cable also likes Britt’s work ethic, noting he was a state champion wrestler in high school: “He’s been through it, he’s suffered and he’s strained to a great degree.”
When asked if he was a “nasty” player—again, that’s a compliment for a lineman—Britt replied, “I went into last season wanting guys I went against to remember me. It was my last year, so I wanted to leave a mark in their mind and have them remember me. If nasty is the word you want to use, then I’m nasty.”
