Often people say they want to paint a wall white because they don’t want strong colors in their home, but as it turns out, there are dozens of ever-so-slightly different whites to choose from.

You checked out the colors of the year: Radiant Orchid, Breath of Fresh Air, bright azalea, “saucy” orange, but you still want white.
It's not an easy choice: cream, pearl, vanilla, snow, chalk, ivory, jasmine, bone. Sharon Grech at Benjamin Moore says the company offers more than 150 shades of white.
Basic white looks like hospital white next those soft shades with just a hint of something else on the color chart.
James Martin, a color consultant with Color People, says go warm: yellow, peachy or rosy white.
More tips: Don't choose online, test swatches on your wall, and mix semi-gloss with matte for sheen without glare.
