MARYSVILLE — The Marysville Pilchuck softball team rattled off eight runs in the final three innings to earn a 10-0 victory over Oak Harbor, giving the Tomahawks the Wesco 3A North league title and the No. 1 seed in next week’s district tournament.
“Its a good feeling,” said Marysville Pilchuck head coach Aaron Zachry. “All of the girls are happy.”
After scoring just two runs in the first three innings, Marysville Pilchuck took a commanding 6-0 lead after scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth. The Tomahawks added two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to end the game because of a 10-run mercy rule.
“If we show up and hit and play good defense we are fine,” Zachry said. “Tonight we decided to hit and play defense and that’s about it.”
Jordan Willard pitched a complete game shutout, striking out eight to earn her 11th win of the season for Marysville Pilchuck. At the plate, Kylie Lopez batted 2-for-4 with two doubles and Abigail Otto went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI to lead the Tomahawks.
“(Willard) has done really well all year,” Zachry said. “She throws a lot of innings and she is consistently around the plate.”
