LYNNWOOD — A 52-year-old Lynnwood woman was critically injured early Saturday after being struck by a car while trying to cross Highway 99.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman was then struck by a second vehicle while State Patrol troopers were investigating the accident.
The events took place near the intersection of Highway 99 and Lincoln Way in Lynnwood. At 12:54 a.m. Saturday, the Lynnwood woman tried to cross the highway and was hit by an oncoming 2000 Dodge Durango driven by a 45-year-old Everett man.
The woman was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she remained in critical condition Saturday.
At 1:01 a.m., while state troopers were investigating the accident, the driver of the Durango walked back to his vehicle to retrieve documents and was struck by a Saturn driven by a 51-year-old Everett man, State Patrol Trooper Mark Francis said.
The driver of the Durango was lightly injured and taken to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett. He was not listed at the hospital later Saturday.
The State Patrol is investigating both incidents.
