MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Fire broke out at a commercial building in Mountlake Terrace early Sunday.
About 1:30 a.m., police reported smoke coming from a two-story building that houses an insurance agency and an auto shop in the 21700 block of Highway 99.
Firefighters from Snohomish County Fire District 1, Lynnwood and Shoreline arrived to find smoke throughout the building.
It took about 20 minutes for crews to locate and put out a small fire in the auto shop on the lower level of the building. No one was inside the building at the time and there were no injuries.
Most fire damage was confined to the lower level, but smoke damage was found throughout the building.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
