EDMONDS — A Marysville man died while diving at the scuba park in Edmonds on Saturday.
Crew members from a nearby ferry spotted the 60-year-old floating in the water just after noon, said Leslie Hynes, a spokeswoman at Snohomish County Fire District 1. The crew sent a rescue boat to bring the diver ashore.
Firefighters met them at a beach just south of the ferry dock and performed CPR.
“They were unable to revive him,” Hynes said.
She said the man was an experienced diver who was with a few others to do maintenance work at the park, which is located just north of the ferry terminal.
About 10 minutes before the man was found floating in the water, he had indicated to his fellow divers that he was going to go to shore, Hynes said.
“They said they didn’t find that unusual,” she said.
Fire officials did not immediately know the cause of death or disclose the diver’s name.
The Edmonds Police Department is expected to investigate.
