Darrington Day: The town’s annual celebration of heritage, arts and the outdoors is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at various locations around Darrington. There will be live music at Old School Park, an art show at Mansford Grange, tours of Hampton Mill, historical exhibits, and a mudslide disaster memorial. Events are free. Get more info here. Raft trip: As part of Darrington Days on Saturday, Adventure Cascades is offering two-hour raft trips on the Sauk River. The trips meet at their shop, 1055 Seeman St. in Darrington, at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, but space is limited. Call 360-393-6815 if you’d like to reserve a spot. Trips are from Clear Creek Camp to the Hampton Mill. The section includes some of the rapids that the Sauk River is famous for as well as great views of Whitehorse and other mountains. Trips are $20 and are open to those 8 and older. Bring a swimsuit and a change of clothes for after the trip. All other gear is provided.
Weddings: The Snohomish Wedding Tour is on Sunday. You can visit chapels, ballrooms and rustic farms, sample food, hear DJs and speak with wedding planners to help you make decisions. Get more info here.
Tasting: The Local Liquid Arts Tasting Festival is from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday in Lynnwood. Sample wine, beer and spirits from local companies. Get more info here.
Navy tour: Naval Station Everett has an open house on Saturday. Public tours will be available of three Navy ships, including the USS Nimitz. The event begins at 10 a.m. Photo ID is required. Get all the details in our story here.
Waterfront: The Edmonds Waterfront Festival is Friday to Sunday at the Port of Edmonds Marina. Hours are 3 to 10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $3 and free for children. There will be live music, magic shows, visits with reptiles, Hawaiian dancing, food, yacht and boat and hydroplane displays and a kids arcade. Oddmall: The Emporium of the Weird showcases unusual arts, crafts and entertainment 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Comcast Arena in Everett. There is a costume parade at 1 p.m. each day and entertainment for kids. Circus sideshow revival troupe Wreckless Freaks &Friends, the Evil Juggler Bryan Sapphire and the pirate musician Tugboat Bromberg will perform. It’s free. For more information, go here.
Nature: The Edmonds Watershed Fun Fair is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Participate in interpretive walks at Edmonds Marsh, a shorebird maze for kids, and geocaching. There are guided tours at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Wildlife Habitat and Native Plant Demonstration Garden at Willow Creek Fish Hatchery. Kids gear: A consignment sale for kids’ clothes and gear is Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Lynnwood Convention center. Get details here.
Pets: The Everett Animal Shelter has a party from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. There will be drawings for prizes, fairy-tale photos with pets and families, kids activities and animals available for adoption. There will be free micro-chipping for dogs and cats from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is a kickoff for a summer challenge to find homes for 1,616 pets over the summer. The shelter is competing with other shelters to win $100,000.
