Family marks 3 years since Granite Falls woman went missing

GRANITE FALLS — Monday marked three years since Angie Gilbert went missing.

Angela “Angie” Marie Gilbert was last seen June 2, 2011, near Granite Falls. She was 42 and a mother of six.

The Snohomish County sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit investigation is ongoing, but there is no new information to share, spokeswoman Shari Ireton said Tuesday.

Gilbert went missing after a walk with Colt Lee White, 23, of Granite Falls. White was found drowned weeks later in the South Fork Stillaguamish River.

Since then, Gilbert’s family has learned little else about what may have happened to their daughter, sister and mother.

A Facebook page, “Missing Angela Gilbert,” has nearly 1,650 followers.

Family members often share memories and messages there for Gilbert, including this post on Monday from her mother, Pam Cope:

“So much has happened in the last three years, and there hasn’t been one of those days I haven’t prayed you would come home to your family,” Cope wrote. “We miss and love you so much and want to see your beautiful, smiling face. Our lives changed on this day and will never be the same until you come back to us.”

Gilbert had made unfortunate decisions in her life, but she was loved, Cope said.

Gilbert had a new grandson born in April. Her children, some of them grown, are “doing remarkably well under the circumstances,” Cope said Tuesday.

Cope and her own mother have made sure to share plenty of pictures of Gilbert with her children from when they were young.

“There are a lot of things they remember and want to talk about,” Cope said. “We all choose to focus on the happy times.”

The family got together Monday and held a small anniversary vigil at the Lake Stevens waterfront.

In January, Gilbert’s daughter, Alyssa, wrote on the Facebook page: “Having a missing parent has made me a stronger person, but I would give up any strength I had for even a minute with her again.”
