21 schools split $8 million for aerospace training
The money comes from legislation passed last November as part of the state’s bid to land the assembly line for Boeing’s 777X jetliner in Washington. It is intended to create room for more than 1,000 new students in aerospace training programs.
Twenty-four colleges submitted 40 proposals for funding. The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges announced the winners Tuesday. Everett Community College got more than $1.5 million.

Bellingham Technical College, Bellingham: aerospace engineering, precision machining.
Big Bend Community College, Moses Lake: AMT program, composites certificate.
Clark College, Vancouver: machine technology, CAD technology.
Clover Park Technical College, Lakewood: welding, CNC machine technology.
Edmonds Community College, Lynnwood: engineering technology, engineering transfer.
Everett Community College, Everett: machine tool technology, engineering.
Green River Community College, Auburn: aerospace engineering, aerospace machining.
Highline Community College, Des Moines: engineering.
Lake Washington Institute of Technology, Kirkland: welding, CNC machine technology.
Olympic College, Bremerton: engineering technology, electronics.
North Seattle College, Seattle: CATIA and CADD, avionics.
Peninsula College, Port Angeles: CNC machining, composites technology.
Renton Technical College, Renton: precision machining.
Shoreline Community College, Shoreline: aerospace machining.
Skagit Valley College, Mount Vernon: composites, manufacturing technology.
South Puget Sound Community College, Olympia: computerized manufacturing.
South Seattle College, Seattle: AMT program, composites.
Spokane Community College, Spokane: AMT and CNC.
