A petition to put Legion of Boom on Madden cover… and a hilarious PSA about dad pants

When Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman was asked about winning the vote to appear on the cover of EA Sports’ Madden 15 video game, he said it was an honor, but one he would prefer to share with his fellow defensive backs.

“It’s a great honor for me and teammates, the legion of Boom,” Sherman said. “I've been trying to get the Legion of Boom on the cover, and EA has been fighting me. So if everybody wants to start a petition to get the Legion of Boom on the cover, here it is, here's an open invitation. They won’t let me do it."

And of course Seahawks fans were going to accept that open invitation. Several online petitions popped up on this week, including this one that had more than nine thousand signatures Wednesday.

Of course, EA Sports is a private company, not the government, so the will of the people ultimately may not mean a darn thing, but hey, it’s the offseason, so if this is what will keep fans entertained, no harm in trying, right? ESPN even came up with a mock cover featuring all four of Seattle’s starting defensive backs.

Speaking of Sherman, if you missed it yesterday, here's our column on the cornerback's very good year (so far).

And just because it’s funny, here’s Sarah Harbaugh, wife of 49ers coach Jim, doing a rather funny faux public service announcement on stopping dad pants, from which her husband previously suffered.
