WARM BEACH — Several fire districts converged on a large brush fire on clear-cut land south of Stanwood on Thursday afternoon.
SnoHawk10, a Snohomish County Search and Rescue helicopter, was deployed to get an aerial view of the fire. It also was bringing a water bucket, Snohomish County sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
The address originally given for the fire was 20400 52nd Avenue NW Stanwood. That location is east of Warm Beach.
The state Department of Natural Resources also was called to help.
Update, 8:50 a.m. Friday: As of 2 a.m., no injuries had been reported, according to fire officials. The blaze burned 38 acres and threatened nearly two dozen homes. One house was evacuated but folks were allowed to return late Thursday evening. Fire crews and the Department of Natural Resources expected to remain on scene for some time.
