With the inclusion of linebacker Tracy White, safety Terreal Bierria and Rashad Moore in Saturday’s cuts, Seattle has now released eight players who started at least one game on defense last season.
The others were defensive tackle Cedric Woodard, defensive end Antonio Cochran, and linebackers Anthony Simmons, Chad Brown and Solomon Bates.
Quick slants: White was claimed off waivers by Jacksonville on Sunday. … Defensive end Otis Leverette, who was also cut Saturday, was added to the Tennessee Titans’ practice squad. … Defensive back Omare Lowe was claimed off waivers by Atlanta. … Punter Chris Kluwe signed with the Minnesota Vikings, who released veteran Darren Bennett after two shanks in Friday’s win over the Seahawks. … According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Vikings also had a meeting scheduled with former Seahawk Koren Robinson on Sunday. … Despite injuries that hampered them during the preseason, wide receiver Alex Bannister (broken clavicle) and backup running back Maurice Morris (hamstring) are expected to be available for Sunday’s game at Jacksonville. The only player who is certain to miss the game is right tackle Floyd Womack, who is expected back sometime around Week 4 after suffering a slight tear in his left triceps.
