Monroe resident Richard Jackson has been named the new chief of staff at Machinists Union District Lodge 751. Jackson, who previously was a union business representative in Everett, replaces Lake Stevens resident Jim Bearden, who has retired after nine years as the top administrative assistant to the union’s district president.

The Everett Clinic has named Dayna Eden as its new chief human resource officer. Eden has 25 years of experience in human resources at the Clinic and was previously director of talent acquisition and employment. She has served as interim CHRO since March. She replaces Rochelle Crollard who retired after 30 years with the Clinic.

RE/MAX Direct Realty has welcomed real estate veteran Brett Herzer to the office located at 110 Fourth Ave. N. in Edmonds. Herzer lives in Edmonds and has more than two decades of local real estate experience. The University of Washington graduate literally grew up in the business with two real estate agent parents.

Edmonds-based Landau Associates has promoted Devan Brandt in its Edmonds office and Sierra Mott in its Tacoma office. Brandt has been promoted to senior technician in the Edmonds Geotechnical group. He will manage equipment and supplies, and provide laboratory and field support to both the Edmonds Geotechnical and Environmental groups. Mott has been promoted to staff scientist.

Kudos

Western Washington Medical Group had six of its doctors named to Seattle Met’s “Top Doc” list for 2014. Winners include ENT physician Matthew Ashbach, orthopedist Robin Madsenin, orthopedist Shane Leavitt, orthopedist Thomas Stark, Harold McCutchan in hand surgery, and Terry Corwin in urology. Physicians for this award were nominated by their peers.

The Everett Clinic has earned a Well Workplace Award for excellence in its employee wellness program from The Wellness Councils of America and recognition as one of America’s healthiest companies. The clinic achieved a gold rating earning 177.68 points out of a possible 180 for its CEO support, wellness teams, data, planning, interventions, supportive environment, and outcomes.

The RAM Restaurant and Brewery was awarded five medals, including two golds, for their hand-crafted beers from the North American Brewers Association 18th annual North American Beer Awards on June 6. The RAM is a family owned and operated restaurant and brewery business founded 43 years ago in Lakewood. It has a location in Tulalip.

Mount Vernon’s Spane Buildings has been awarded Best Overall Project 2013 from the Skagit/Island Counties Builders Association for a rustic barn with solar panels they built on Camano Island. The barn also won the award for Best Accessory Building. Members of the Home Builders Association of Tri-Cities in Kennewick selected this year’s winners.

The Future of Flight Foundation invites the community to celebrate summer at its second annual Wine, Wings &More event from 6 to 9 p.m. on June 20. June is Adopt-A-Cat Month. To mark this national awareness month, the Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is offering a unique special on cat adoptions in June. Adoption fees will be waived for every cat over the age of three every Thursday in June. More information can be found online at www.paws.org.

A new enrollment center where individuals can apply for TSA PreCheck and expedited airport screening has opened in Everett. This is the second location in Everett and the fourth in the Puget Sound region. The new Everett enrollment center is located at 530 SW Everett Mall Way, Suite 105. The U.S. Postal Service is hiring for non-career City Carrier Assistant positions to deliver mail at various post offices in the immediate Seattle area. Applicants must pass postal exams 473E and 473, be at least 18 years old or a high school graduate. Radia, one of the largest radiology groups in the nation, has signed a long-term lease at Redstone Corporate Center I at 19020 33rd Ave W, Lynnwood, across from the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood. Radia is slated to occupy 23,000-square-feet of office space in October 2014. Daniel Seger and Brent Jackson of JLL represented the ownership group in the lease negotiations. Dan Foster and Cameron Gellatly of Flinn Ferguson represented the tenant.

The Snohomish County Council has unanimously approved the designation of the Arlington/Marysville Manufacturing/Industrial Center. The proposed center consists of about 4,000 acres of land in the Smokey Point area of Snohomish County, and is located within the urban growth boundaries of Arlington and Marysville. The area currently hosts about 5,500 jobs with the capacity for up to 78,000 additional jobs.

Bothell-based Essentia Water has just been named the official water of the Soulshine Yoga and Music Tour. The Alliance for Aviation Across America has applauded Washington Gov. Jay Inslee for declaring June 2014 “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Washington, general aviation accounts for $26 billion in annual economic activity statewide. In addition, it supports other industries such as agriculture, law enforcement, medical care, disaster relief and other services.

The individual health insurance market grew 30 percent in one year to more than 327,000 people in Washington state, according to new information reported by health insurers to the Office of the Insurance Commissioner. The latest enrollment numbers and other insurance market data also indicate that Washington state has succeeded in reducing the number of uninsured by more than 370,000.
