The sheriff’s office says the woman and a man were staying in the area to go fishing. The two had separated, and the man found the injured woman when he came back up the trail from the river. She had fallen down a steep embankment. The 67-year-old man ran three miles to the nearest phone to call 911.
When first responders arrived they found the woman dead with severe head trauma.
She was a 53-year-old from Burbank, California, but her name has not yet been released.
