Seahawks get their Super Bowl rings tonight
“It’s really an honor,” Pete Carroll said. “The honor in it comes from doing it together with all these guys. We feel very fortunate, and we’re humbled that it’s come to this now. We’re going to get this thing done, then we’ll move along with it, but it’s just really cool to have done something like that together. We set out to take it as far as we can, and we did. Tonight will be a blast, we’re going to really respect the night and have fun with it.”
Added quarterback Russell Wilson: “The ring ceremony is going to be exciting, just to finish up this summer. We’ve had an unbelievable offseason, it’s been great, it really has. To think about last year and the experience we had going to the Super Bowl and winning that game, it doesn’t get any better.
“Earl Thomas and I talked at the White House when we were there, and one of the things we discussed—as everybody was talking, we were in the corner just talking about what it feels like to win, what it feels like to go to the White House. I think tonight when we get that ring and put that heavy ring on our finger and realize we actually won Super Bowl XLVIII, it makes you want to do it again. That’s the itch that we have, how can we do it again and how can we do it that much better?”
Among the former members of the team who will be in attendance is fullback Michael Robinson, who stopped by the media room to chat with reporters (more on this in a post coming soon).
Robinson said he’s looking forward to “Just seeing everybody,” but pointed out a couple players in particular who he wants to check on. Robinson he wants to catch up with Robert Turbin, who he calls his “little homie” to see how he’s handling an offseason when all the buzz, and a lot of praise from coaches, is being directed towards Christine Michael.
Robinson also mentioned guard James Carpenter as a player he’s looking forward to seeing: “I heard he lost some weight, I can’t wait to see him, can’t wait to talk to him a little bit, kind of see where his mind is. Because to me he’s a guy who, if he got himself together up here, he could be one of the most dominant guards in the National Football League. Has he got it together up here yet? I don’t know. Not knowing what to do, but kind of having that dog, that Michael Bennett about you. So I would just like to talk to guys like that just to kind of feel them out a little bit. Haven’t seen them in a while.”
