KOMO will broadcast each UW football and men’s basketball game on 1000 AM and 97.7 FM, beginning with the Huskies’ Aug. 30 opener at Hawaii.
Longtime play-by-play man Bob Rondeau will remain in the booth alongside color analyst Damon Huard. A UW spokesperson said it hasn’t been determined whether longtime sideline reporter Elise Woodward, a KJR employee, will remain on the broadcast.
The deal is the latest in a lengthy, off-and-on broadcast relationship between UW and KOMO. The school’s press release notes that KOMO held the broadcast rights for UW football and basketball for 21 of the past 36 seasons. KJR began broadcasting Huskies games in 2002.
“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome the Huskies back home to KOMO Newsradio,” said Janene Drafs, vice president and general manager of Sinclair Radio Seattle, said in a statement. “As a UW alum, I am proud and honored to once again be partnering with this outstanding athletic and academic institution.”
