Girl injured along Monroe-area road

MONROE -- A 13-year-old girl was transported to a Seattle hospital Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle while walking in the 21000 block of Old Owen Road.

The accident was reported around 6:30 p.m.

The teen appeared to have head injuries.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and was cooperating with detectives, Snohomish County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

The extent of the girl's injuries was not immediately available. The cause of the mishap is under investigation.
