Weekend fun: Planes, Strawberry Fest, rodeo, plant sale and more

Saddle up: The Darrington Rodeo is at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the rodeo grounds off Highway 530, which has been reopened to traffic. After the rodeo, around 6 p.m., people can walk over to the adjacent Darrington Bluegrass Music Park for the “Dancing in the Dirt” concert. Get more info in our story here.

Strawberries: The Marysville Strawberry Festival runs through Sunday, with most of the events on Saturday. Get all the details in our story here.

Bi-planes: This is Bi-Plane Weekend at the Historic Flight Foundation. More than 60 restored planes will arrive on Friday and stay through Sunday. There will be flight demonstrations and chances to ride in the planes. Get more info here.

Car show: In conjunction with Bi-Plane Weekend, a car show is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, also at the Historic Flight Foundation. Get details here.

B-29: See the last flying B-29 on Friday, Saturday or Sunday at Paine Field. Tours and rides will be offered. Advance sign-up for rides is recommended. Get more info and book rides if you’re feeling like a splurge here. Aircraft tours begin at 2 p.m.

Wings and wine: The Future of Flight Foundation offers a night of Wine, Wings and More with tastings of the Northwest’s best wine, beer and spirits from 6 to 9 Friday night at the Future of Flight Aviation Center, 8415 Paine Field Blvd., Mukilteo. Tastings of 30 Northwest wines, beers and spirits will be paired with food catered by Alexa’s Cafe. Wine, beer and spirits will be available for purchase, tax-free, by the bottle to take home. Tickets, $45 or $35 for members, are available here.

Farm fun: Families are invited to visit Biringer Farm from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Strawberry Lane, 21412 59th Ave. NE, Arlington. Check out the pony rides, Giant Strawberry ride, visit animals and catch a trolley ride to the acres of berries. Then buy a strawberry shortcake to finish. Free admission. More info here.

Kids music The Lincoln Theatre presents the band Recess Monkey at 6 p.m. Saturday at 712 S. First St., Mount Vernon. Recess Monkey is a trio of teachers who make music for kids and families. Festival seating, $12 for adults and $8 for students and children. More info here.

Zeppelin: No Quarter, a Led Zeppelin Experience tribute band, plays at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Historic Everett Theater, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett. Tickets, $15 to $30, are here.

Bubbles and juggles: Kick off summer with a clown, musician, and bubble artist. Join Linda Severt for an exploration of the science behind juggling and bubbles. Small bubbles, spectacular bubble sculptures, and big bubbles will captivate kids of all ages. The event is at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mukilteo Library.

Books: Hear mystery author Elizabeth George talk at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Monroe Library. She will talk about the craft of writing and her popular teen series set on Whidbey Island, “The Edge of Nowhere” and “The Edge of the Water.” Books will be for sale and George will be available after the program for book signings.

Plant sale: The Evergreen Arboretum &Gardens has a plant sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 145 Alverson Blvd., Everett. You’ll find trees, shrubs, perennials, ground covers, grasses, roses, vines and herbs. More here.

Powerful fun: Learn about the principles of air pressure at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Snohomish Library. Kids can watch a soda bottle be crushed by the atmosphere, and will learn how the forces at work affect the world around us. Also see a small hot-air balloon, learn how parachutes work and ride a hovercraft.

Horsemanship: See contestants gentle unbroken horses using natural horsemanship methods from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at BLT Arena, 21711 Waite Mill Road, Granite Falls. Bring your own chairs. Get more info and purchase tickets, $10-$15 here.
