Harbour Pointe Retirement & Assisted Living Community has added Kathy Croft to its marketing team. Croft owned her own business for 18 years and previously worked as a marketing professional for retirement communities. Most recently she worked as a financial consultant for seniors at Emerald Capital Preservation. Croft lives in Mill Creek.

Ryan Blume and Jenny Keeney, former senior managers of Moss Adams, have formed a new firm, Blume Keeney. The partnership provides specialty tax and consulting services specifically for individuals, corporate executives, business owners, family groups, trusts, and estates across the Puget Sound region. The firm is located in downtown Everett at 2918 Colby Ave., Suite 201.

The Cellar restaurant in Smokey Pointís Medallion Hotel re-opened last month under a new management team. Cousins Danny and Paul Pickering from Max Daleís Steak & Chop House in Mount Vernon and the Stanwood Grill in Stanwood are now running The Cellar. David Peterson is the restaurantís executive chef.
The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce has announced that Francine Cohen will be honored and riding in the An Edmonds Kind of Fourth Parade. She was selected for her volunteer efforts in Edmonds. This past May, Cohen was also selected by the Edmonds Kiwanis Club as the Citizen of the Year winner.

Lynnwood Honda has received the Honda Presidentís Award for its exceptional performance in 2013. This is the sixth year that Lynnwood Honda has earned this honor. The dealership is ranked in the top 8 percent of Honda dealerships in the nation.

Schack Art Center has selected ďHarbor HomeĒ by Melana Bontrager as the poster image for Fresh Paint: Festival of Artists at Work on Aug. 16 and 17 at the Port of Everett Marina. Bontrager, an Everett resident, found inspiration for ďHarbor HomeĒ during an overcast, quiet morning at the marina. Fresh Paint is a free community event.

Oak Harborís Flyers Restaurant and Brewery claimed two gold, one silver, and four bronze medals in three recent brewing competitions this year. The small-batch craft brewery won in the North American Brewers Awards, the Los Angeles International Beer Competition and the Washington Beer Awards.

Canopy Tours Northwest, the Camano Island-based zip line tour, has been awarded TripAdvisorís 2014 Certificate of Excellence. The award is given to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor. Winners must maintain a four out of a possible five rating. Canopy Tours Northwest was founded in 2011 and has attracted over 20,000 visitors since opening.
Good deeds
Lynnwood Windermere associates donated labor to the YWCAís Pathways for Women shelter as part of the real estateís company annual Community Service Day on June 20. The crew painted the interior, installed new lighting and flooring, organized the supply room and spruced up landscaping using materials donated from local companies. It was part of day of service for Windermere offices around the region. In total, Windermere agents and staff donated more than 55,000 hours of service during this yearís milestone Community Service Day event.

Edmonds Center for the Arts has been awarded a grant from the Harrington-Schiff Foundation to purchase a collection of ukuleles for student use during its new Hawaiian Summer Keiki Camp. The new program is in partnership with Grammy award-winning Keoki Kahumoku, ukulele artist Kalei Gamiao, and Kumu Hula Krista Espiritu of Hula O Lehualani (Hula School).

Community Health Center of Snohomish County and Molina Healthcare came together June 21 to provide free health screenings. Online registration is now open for all runners in the Eighth Annual Edmonds 4th of July 5K Fun Run/Walk. Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance will host its first Women in Aerospace Luncheon on July 25 at the Museum of Flight in Seattle to recognize the accomplishments of women in the aerospace industry. The three-hour luncheon is open to men and women. Cost is $75 for PNAA members and $100 for non-members. Go to for information.
Classes, workshops and webinars
Licensed marriage and family therapist Sarri Gilman, author of ďTransform Your Boundaries,Ē will offer a workshop of the same name from 9 a.m. to noon June 27 in Everett. The workshop will explain the importance of boundaries in our lives and how they affect our decisions. Tickets are available at
Tractor Supply Company, which operates 18 Delís Feed and Farm Supply Stores in Washington, has settled with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for violating the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act. According to the settlement, the company failed to properly report propane storage at five facilities in Washington including one in Monroe and has agreed to pay a $134,400 penalty.

Snohomish County PUD offers multiple programs to help customers having trouble paying their PUD bill. These include a Budget Payment Plan and Low Income and Senior Assistance. There are also programs such as Project PRIDE and Helping Hands that are funded through voluntary donations. For more information, call 425-783-1000.
The Washington State Governorís Committee on Disability Issues & Employment is seeking nominations for the Governorís Employer Awards and the Governorís Trophy for employers and individuals who make extra efforts to recruit, hire, promote and retain employees with disabilities. Nominations are due by Aug. 30, 2014. Details and forms are online here

The Governorís Industrial Safety and Health Advisory Board is accepting nominations for the 2014 Governorís Lifesaving Awards for workers in Washington state who saved a life in the past 12 months.
