GRAND FORKS, B.C. ? The Everett Merchants rallied from an early deficit and held on to defeat the West Coast Guns 5-4 Friday at the Grand Forks Invitational baseball tournament.
The Merchants fell behind 2-0 in the first inning and trailed the Guns until the fourth inning, when Everett scored four runs.
Josh Potter began the rally with a single, John Doering and Ty Holm walked to load the bases and Jacob Sells hit a three-run double. Clay Trushinsky later singled home Sells and Everett led 4-2.
The Merchants added another run in the fifth inning to make it 5-2. The Guns scored twice in the ninth inning before closer Cody Culp entered the game and shut them down.
