The Snohomish County Republican Party has failed to disclose how much money it’s raised and spent this year though the chairwoman vowed the information will be turned in soon.
Each month the party is required to file reports detailing contributions and expenditures with the state Public Disclosure Commission. It has not filed any in 2014.
Party Chairwoman Billye Brooks-Sebastiani acknowledged the matter in a May 30 email to commission staff.
“Between some work-related issues and illnesses, our treasurer and bookkeeper have not completed our report filings,” she wrote. “Our activity has been average with an increase during our annual fundraiser event. Both individuals will be working these next couple weeks and I will keep you posted with our progress.”
In an interview late last month, Sebastiani said the party will be “caught up by July 15” and admitted “we could get fined” by the commission.
This isn’t the first time the party has been late with its reports.
In 2009, when the party raised and spent around $57,000, it did not file its first report until Nov. 11 which was eight days after the general election. Most of the information, however, didn’t get reported until January 2010.
The PDC did not take action against the party for the late filings.
