Bystanders help pull 2 from Nisqually River
The News Tribune reported that a 48-year-old Tacoma man was in critical condition at Providence St. Peter Hospital Friday night.
Sgt. Alvin Griffin with the Thurston County Sheriff’s office says the two were floating in a raft Friday afternoon when it flipped near a log jam. Neither wore life jackets.
People at a nearby campground used a garden hose to pull the boy from the river.
The man, meanwhile, had floated downriver. A bystander jumped in a car to follow him and then alerted a group of Navy personnel who were on a sandbar. That Navy group jumped into the river, pulled the man out and performed CPR.
