Senior center BBQ: The Mill Creek Senior Center is having a barbecue to raise money for their center July 17 between noon and 2 p.m. at the Emeritus/Merrill Gardens Retirement Community. There will be hotdogs, hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, chips and soda. Strawberry shortcake will be the dessert.
The suggested donation is $10. Emeritus/Merrill Gardens is at 14905 Bothell/Everett Highway in Mill Creek.

Big band music in the park: Edmonds City Park Summer Concerts presents the classic sound of the 85th Street Big Band from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Edmonds' City Park at Third Avenue South and Pine Street.
The 20-piece 85th Street Big Band plays dance music, including swing tunes made famous by Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman and Nat King Cole.

Health-care enrollment: Washington Healthplanfinder has opened a special enrollment period for Washington residents whose same-sex domestic partnerships were converted to marriages June 30. The 60-day enrollment window provides these couples with an opportunity to enroll in a qualified health plan before the next open enrollment period, which starts Nov. 15, for coverage beginning in 2015.
