Mariners to honor Oso: The Seattle Mariners plan a Stilly Valley Community Day for the July 26 game against the Baltimore Orioles at Safeco Field.
Snohomish County sheriff's detective Terry Haldeman will throw the ceremonial first pitch shortly after 1 p.m.
Haldeman lives near Darrington and was among the first emergency responders on the east side of the March 22 mudslide. He helped set up the first command post, and used vacation time to work an excavator in the debris field to recover people and property.
A moment of silence is planned for the game, and free and discount tickets have been distributed in the Stillaguamish Valley.
For more info, contact the Oso fire department, the city of Arlington or the Arlington and Darrington libraries.
Lynnwood joins Facebook: The city of Lynnwood has launched a Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/LynnwoodWA. The page had more than 100 followers by Tuesday.

Word on the Street: An interactive art project, “Word on the Street,” will bring 10 vintage typewriters to Everett sidewalks starting today.
The manual typewriters, which range from 40 to 70 years old, will be installed on classic typewriter tables decorated by local artists and placed outside downtown businesses. Passersby are invited to take a minute to type out a response to the “question of the day,” posed by Everett Public Library staff.
