The Snohomish County Fire Chiefs Association has penned a letter expressing support for the fire chiefs in Oso and Darrington for their leadership during the response to the March 22 mudslide.
In a letter sent to both fire districts, Sultan Fire Chief Merlin Halverson praised Darrington Fire Chief Dennis Fenstermaker and Oso Fire Chief John “Willy” Harper.
“The combined leadership, commitment, critical thinking skills and heart and souls of these exceptional gentlemen, clearly made a difference in the outcome of this incident. In the beginning hours, their ability to lead and get things done efficiently, set the tone for the rest of the incident,” the letter reads.
