Just my type

Just my type

Think of it as texting on paper: Following the success of its sidewalk piano program, the city of Everett’s new interactive art project, Word on the Street, involves placing 10 manual typewriters throughout downtown, inviting people to hunt and peck responses to questions posed by the vintage communication devices (Page A3).

But the project might stymie some of the younger members of the public as they search the typewriter for the Crtl-Alt-Delete keys to start it up.

Crtl-Alt-Delete jobs: Microsoft announced its largest layoffs in its history, cutting up to 18,000 jobs worldwide, 1,350 of which will be in the Seattle area. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said the cuts were necessary as it seeks to revamp its Nokia smartphones. “We will focus on breakthrough innovation that expresses and enlivens Microsoft’s digital work and digital life experiences.” (Page A11)

Digital work and life experiences like using your Nokia phone to apply for unemployment and play solitaire.

What about the other 19 hours? Oregon’s attorney general has filed suit against the makers of 5-Hour Energy, alleging as deceptive its advertising claims that the caffeine-rich drink provides energy and focus without a crash (Page A11).

And unless he starts seeing a pair of wings sprouting from his back soon, the attorney general is going after you next, Red Bull.
