Seems Like Yesterday

Port of Everett Chairman Paul Kinnune announced today that Port Manager Tom McCutchan was leaving his post to join the staff of the Port of Seattle. Kinnune said that he and Commissioners Bert Vanderwilt and Tony Dyre accepted McCutchan's resignation with regret.

Glen Trott of Walsh-Platt Motors was selected for the Chrysler- Plymouth All Star Medallion Salesman's Club. He would be honored at a jamboree in Ocean Shores for retail efforts during the first five months of the year.

25 years ago (1989)
Janny Ardahl, daughter of Darrel and Linda Ardahl, of Mill Creek, and about to become a Cascade High School senior, was on her way to stardom. For 13 weeks this fall she would be a co-host on Cliff Lens' award-winning “Music Magic” program. She said she'd give up all of her vacation to begin doing this.

Several fire and law enforcement agencies responded to reports of an explosion yesterday in the Harbour Pointe area. Some thought an airplane from Paine Field had crashed. One caller thought a meteor had struck. Turned out the explosionwas deliberate with clearing land for a new golf course in the area.
