The Chicago Bulls are working to finalize an agreement with free-agent guard Aaron Brooks, according to league sources.
One source said the deal isn’t finished but talks are in the advanced stages. Brooks, 29, would be added on a veteran’s minimum exception to add scoring prowess in a reserve role.
A six-year NBA veteran who also played a season in China, Books has averaged 11.1 points and 3.4 assists for four teams. The 6-footer won the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award in 2009-10 after averaging 19.8 points for the Rockets while starting all 82 games. He split time between the Rockets and Nuggets last season.
Coincidentally, the Nuggets acquired him after Nate Robinson suffered a knee injury. Now Brooks could be plugged into the reserve scoring role for the Bulls in which Robinson once shined.
