Rides and games. Parades and a funny hypnotist. Pancakes and a pizza-eating contest.
It's all that and more at the Lake Stevens Aquafest this weekend. Aquafest began as an afternoon waterski tournament between friends 54 years ago. It's now a three-day festival, starting Friday. In addition to the carnival, the 60 events include a book sale, pet show, diaper dash, classic car show and beverage garden.
The theme of Friday's children's parade is “All American Aquafest, United We Lake.” Decorate bikes, wagons and scooters in red-white-and-blue. The children's parade starts on Hartford Road, in front of the fire department, at 6 p.m.
The grand parade is 1 p.m. Saturday, with the boat parade at 7 p.m.
Hypnotist Ron Stubbs performs at 8 p.m. Friday night at the North Cove Stage. His “Outrageous Rock & Roll Comedy Hypnosis Show” has sound and lighting effects of a rock concert.
The firefighters' breakfast is 6 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday. A fireworks show is scheduled for approximately 10 p.m. Saturday. The Sunday Family Funfest is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, with a pizza-eating contest at 1:15 p.m.
