Weekend best bets: Dinosaurs, Aquafest, outdoor fun, more

A dino-might time: This weekend’s Jurassic Quest exhibit at Comcast Arena features 50 realistic “animatronic” dinosaurs and gives kids a chance to ride them. They’ll be at Comcast Arena on Saturday and Sunday. Get all the details in our story here.

Ice Age: Want even more ancient animals? Learn about the animals of the Ice Age and even see some bones from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Camano Island State Park. Get more info here.

Aquafest: Aquafest offers a weekend full of fun that takes over the whole town of Lake Stevens. The grand parade is 1 p.m. Saturday, with the boat parade at 7 p.m. A fireworks show is scheduled for approximately 10 p.m. Saturday night. The Family Funfest is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, with a pizza-eating contest at 1:15 p.m. For more, read our story.

Golden: Gold Dust Days are Friday to Sunday in Gold Bar. During the festival, people can pan for gold, visit the street fair and listen to local bands. There’s other entertainment planned, including a Civil War encampment, a classic car show and a 1950s pin-up contest. Get details in our story here.

Nubian Jam: A celebration of African-American culture with speakers, live performances and vendors is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday at Forest Park in Everett.

Quilts on the Beach: Hundreds of quilt enthusiasts are expected to attend the free Quilts on the Beach event Saturday at Cama Beach State Park. The fifth annual open-air quilt show is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the park. Get more info in our story here.

Family fun: A family event is from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Evergreen Arboretum. There will be music, games, art projects and food. The Everett Public Library, Imagine Children’s Museum, Schack Art Center and more groups will be there. Get more info here.

Fun at the Park: The AquaSox’s annual Family Festival at Memorial Stadium is this weekend. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.

Bubbles: Make your own bubble wand and some really big bubbles from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday at Cama Beach State Park. Get more info here. A number of other fun events are planned at that park and others. Check out a list here.

Fish: Visit the Ballard Locks on Saturday to see salmon. Naturalists will be there from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to tell you all about the cool fish and their journey. Get more info here.

Big Four: Learn about the history of the Big Four Inn and the ecosystem of the area near the Big Four Ice Caves. The talks and short hikes are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday and Sunday until September. Get more info here.

Fair fun: The Silvana Community Fair is Saturday at Viking Hall, 1331 Pioneer Highway. There will be live music at noon as well as food, farm animals, indoor exhibits, and kids’ games. It’s free. Get more info here.

Tour de Terrace: Mountlake Terrace has a carnival, live entertainment, beer garden, arts, crafts, car show and more Friday to Sunday. Get more info here.
