Singers and songwriters Tayla Lynn and Eric Tingstad will perform in a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at Edmonds City Park. The park is at 3rd Avenue South and Pine Street. Hearing on fire department’s future: The Mukilteo City Council has scheduled a public hearing for 7 p.m. Monday on a proposal for the city’s fire department to be absorbed by Fire District 1. The hearing will take place at Mukilteo City Hall, 11930 Cyrus Way. The contract for fire services is expected to cost about $5 million a year. The City Council is scheduled to vote on the issue Sept. 2. More information is available online at http://tinyurl.com/p28t4w6. Fire District 1 serves most of southwest Snohomish County and contracts with the cities of Brier, Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace. In south county, only Mukilteo, Lynnwood and Bothell have kept their own fire departments.

Voting deadline: If you’re not registered to vote and want to participate in the Aug. 5 primary, you need to register by Monday. To do so, go the Snohomish County Auditor’s Office at 3000 Rockefeller Ave. Room 505. in Everett. Call 425-388-3444 for information. Ballots must be postmarked by Aug. 5.
