Active Duty
Air Force Airman 1st Class Vincent A. Doherty graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Doherty is the son of Evelyn and Mark Doherty of Marysville. He is a 2005 graduate of Marysville-Pilchuck High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2011 from Central Washington University.
Air Force Airman Abigail S. Schranck graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Schranck is the daughter of Joan and Rick Schranck of Arlington. She is a 2012 graduate of Arlington High School.
Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class William G. Cox graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. Cox earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Brenda Kohlmyer of Lynnwood and Jim Cox of Brier. The airman is a 2012 graduate of Meadowdale High School.
Army Pfc. Tylor Harper attended a paralegal warrior training course at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. Harper currently is serving as a paralegal specialist with the 364th Expeditionary Sustainment Command in Marysville. He is a 2013 graduate of Lynnwood High School. He is the son of Alisa Harper of St. Louis, Missouri.
Army Spc. Matthew T. Fuller has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Fuller is the son of Cindy Fuller of Bothell. He is a 2006 graduate of Cascade High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in 2011 from University Of Washington.
Veterans news
Soldier Ride: Wounded Warrior Project’s rehabilitative cycling event, Soldier Ride, is Aug. 7, 8 and 9, beginning in Oak Harbor and covering Whidbey and San Juan islands.

Traveling memorial wall: The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is to be erected July 31 outside the Veterans Memorial Museum just off I-5 in Chehalis and remain up through Aug. 3. Speakers at the opening event at 6 p.m. Aug. 1 will include veterans and those who lost love ones.
The wall bears the names of more than 58,000 men and women lost during the Vietnam War. Volunteers will help people find names and chaplains plan to be on duty to offer counsel. The traveling wall will be escorted into town July 30 by motorcyclists from the Brothers in Arms.
At 11 a.m. on Aug. 2, a Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Day program is planned.
