SNOHOMISH — Three teens and two children got a safety talk on Tuesday after they prompted a river rescue call-out near Snohomish.
The group was floating the Pilchuck River about 2 p.m. on inner tubes without using life jackets, Fire Chief Ron Simmons said.
Their parents lost sight of them, panicked and called 911. The kids all were found safe, Simmons said. They had accidentally floated farther than they intended.
The incident happened near Pilchuck Park off Cypress Avenue.
Every year, adults and children die on Snohomish County’s rivers, particularly during the summer months. The body of a 21-year-old man was pulled from the Snohomish River this past weekend.
His identity has not yet been released by county officials.
