The group was floating the Pilchuck River about 2 p.m. on inner tubes without using life jackets, Fire Chief Ron Simmons said.
Their parents lost sight of them, panicked and called 911. The kids all were found safe, Simmons said. They had accidentally floated farther than they intended.
The incident happened near Pilchuck Park off Cypress Avenue.
