Lock those doors: Mukilteo police are reminding folks in town to keep their cars locked when they are parked.
Of the 67 reported car prowls in Mukilteo so far this year, 32 involved unlocked vehicles, according to the quarterly Block Watch report. That's nearly half. Valuables, such as purses and GPS units, and garage door openers should not be left visible inside the parked car.
Even cars left in garages should still be locked, according to police.
Yes you can, can: Gain the confidence to tackle your first canning project. A class on the how, why and what can be preserved by canning, including fruit, jam, tomatoes and pickles is scheduled from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. The class is presented by Vickie Phelps of Seattle Can Can, a USDA-accredited Master Food Preserver with more than 40 years of experience. Register at, or by calling 425-493-8202.
Volunteer with Marysville police: Marysville police are looking for volunteers, particularly in crime prevention. Ages 18 and up are welcome. More info: 360-363-8325.
