The Frogs' game against Tri-Cities was the last contest Everett plays at Everett Memorial Stadium until August 10th. After a three-game away series in Eugene, the Northwest League has a three-day All-Star break and then Everett heads to Spokane for a three-game series.
And just because there's a three-day stretch with no games during the Northwest League All-Star game in Eugene, the Frogs won't be completely baseball free. There will be an opportunity to return to Everett Memorial to get a little work in.
“The pitchers will be throwing on (Tuesday),” Everett manager Dave Valle said, “and everyone will be together the day before we head off (Wednesday) to Spokane.”
The players hope to get a little downtime during the break. Frogs infielder Jordan Cowan, who is from Covington, is eager to spend some time with friends and family during the game-less stretch from August 4-6.
“It should be fun,” Cowan said. “Hopefully get your mind away from the game for a little bit and then get back to work as soon as we start back up again.”
Six players won't get much time off. Center fielder Austin Cousino, infielder Chris Mariscal, utility player Kyle Petty, catcher Adam Martin and pitchers Cruz Pereira and Kody Kerski will remain in Eugene after the Frogs' series against the Emeralds for the Northwest League All-Star game.
“I'm just honored to be selected to be there with all the great guys on the all-star team,” Mariscal said of participating in the game. “… I'm excited about the experience and to be around a bunch of great guys. I know the Northwest League is pretty good and I'm just happy to be there with everyone.”
