Tofu for you

Super-size what? In the wake of the expired-beef scandal in China, McDonald's in Japan have begun selling tofu McNuggets, and writer L.V. Anderson says she thinks that's a grand idea that should be rolled out in the United States.

To which The Buzz says: OK, but only at select McDonald's in Seattle, Portland and Brooklyn — and certainly not in any states with open-carry laws.

Job security: Rupert Murdoch's 21st Century Fox has withdrawn its $80 billion takeover offer for Time Warner, parent company of HBO.

Assuming it's not a negotiating ploy, this means lefty comic Bill Maher can breathe easy — his HBO show won't be replaced by a new program called “Real Time With Bill O'Reilly.”

This politician puts on his big-boy pants: The 5-year-old mayor of Dorset, Minn, lost his bid for re-election Sunday, but he shed not a tear over the defeat.

Mayor Robert “Bobby” Tufts says his mom warned him against throwing a temper tantrum like that guy down in Mississippi.
