GOLD BAR — Teams from Snohomish County Search and Rescue aided injured hikers in separate incidents over the past two days.
The first rescue involved a woman in her 20s with an injured foot near Lake 22 east of Granite Falls.
A call came in around 7 p.m. Tuesday that the woman was unable to hike out on her own due the nature of her injuries, sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.
A team of 30 search and rescue volunteers located the woman, placed her in a litter and carried her out around 11 p.m. Her injuries were not believed to be serious.
The second incident occurred near Lake Janus along the Pacific Crest Trail when a man reported that he had broken his ankle while hiking.
The Helicopter Rescue Team was notified and SnoHAWK10, the sheriff’s office helicopter, was launched around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The victim was hoisted from the area around noon and flown to Gold Bar where he was met by medics from Snohomish County Fire District 26.
